Monteith Scott appointed directly by NEC catering to develop the venue’s new corporate brand, which was to be implemented the catering ‘pods’ in halls 6.7 & 8. The areas were built in 1989, and were dated in appearance aesthics were extremely poor, speciality coffee was not available, and liquor sales had been declining over the previous five years.
Pod 6 is an open area comprising of a bar and fast food kisok with an adjacent toilet block.. Pods 7&8 are identical in plan, with a bar and fast pods, the emphasis was changed from that of a bar to a caf&egave bar. Specialite, teas and coffees with supporting food offers, became a key focus and the space was designed to feel as appropriate to enjoying a coffee as an evening drink.
The fast food kiosk wre modernised, with timber floors and discrete lighting central to the design.
A strict budget meant that considerable value engineering prior to tender issue and beyond was key to the success of the project, which was delivered on time and within agreed costs.
